Upcoming Studies and Speakers
2 Comments Published by Dr. Beyster January 13th, 2009 in Employee Ownership, San Diego, Technology.Last week David Finegold — Dean of the Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations — visited to interview Mary Ann and me separately on our expectations for a study on employee ownership we recently funded. The study starts soon, and we expect results within the next few months.
I hope to attend an upcoming Xconomy Forum on the subject of Physics for Future Presidents. Former San Diego Union-Tribune reporter Bruce Bigelow is the Editor of Xconomy San Diego. The speaker — physicist Richard A. Muller — plans to “challenge conventional wisdom and debunk popular myths about energy, cleantech, electric cars, global warming, counterterrorism, and the future of technology.” The forum will be at the UCSD Institute for the America’s Complex on Monday, February 9, 2009 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. This should be an interesting event and if you’re in the area, it might be worth your attendance.

Bob*,
Will your study on employee ownership include sustaining employee ownership? I am interested in learning of the other alternatives to taking a successful employee owned company public and the alternatives pros and cons.
Regarding Dr. Muller’s talk, since it is extremely unlikely that I will be able to attend in person, do you know if there are plans to make all or part of his talk available on the Internet or through some other medium?

*We’ve only met 3 times since I joined SAI in 1975 and each time you said to call you Bob. So, there you go.
Bill: Yes. I’m sure that over a period of time, all the alternatives to public exit strategies will be discussed in detail by the key universities doing these studies. I hope that Xconomy will archive Muller’s talk. You might check the website after February 9th to see if they do. — Bob
