Dinner with Friends and Book Update
4 Comments Published by Dr. Beyster April 29th, 2009 in Network Solutions, San Diego. The big news out here this week is the outbreak of the swine flu. We all have flu shots, but they may be for the wrong flu. I hope we don’t have to wear masks like they’re doing in Mexico City.
On Sunday we went to dinner with a friend from Washington D.C. who still works at SAIC in nuclear weapons effects. His wife traveled out here with him to see their son graduate from Cal Western Law School. So six of us went to dinner at the Beach and Tennis Club. I learned that the Defense Threat Reduction Agency — formerly the Defense Nuclear Agency — is still alive and well and providing a vital function for the defense of our nation. This is the agency that gave me one of my first contracts after we started SAIC.
So far we have not found a publisher for the new book about the Internet and Network Solutions. If you have any ideas for us, I would like to hear them.

Have you consulted 2009 Writer’s Market by Brewer? An earlier version helped me find my publisher.
Best Wishes,
Duane Hove
Duane: Thank you for the advice on finding a publisher. We’ll look into the book you recommended. — Bob
Hello Bob,
The Internet and Network Solution, such an active participant SAIC was. I’m blessed to have been along for the ride.
It’s been a long time and some time ago we talked about web collaboration tools. That combined with social networking is a really interesting experiment. I recently saw a video on Google Wave. A new open-source platform of communications and collaboration tools. Genius.
I enjoy your blog, a pretty effective communications tool.
I recall so many conversations with you, thinking out of the box, in the initial internet boom.
Thanks to you and Ron A. for the time I was able to spend in the web development area. An awesome experience. I do miss the think tank.
Still Apple here, a Mac user. I’ve got an iPhone too.
All the best to you,
Dave Wilhite
Dave: It was good talking with you from the boat last Friday, and I am disappointed you will not be coming to San Diego anytime soon. That doesn’t mean we can’t talk on the Internet, which is what I will plan to do. I will be sure to check out the new Google Wave. Many of my friends have Apple computers and iPhones. I haven’t switched to those yet. — Bob
