Blinking Christmas Lights

I recently learned that someone in the University of Michigan Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science installed a unique set of Christmas lights that wind their way up the four-story spiral staircase within the Bob and Betty Beyster Building. It is my understanding that the lights are connected to the Internet, and it is possible to change their color remotely using Twitter.

According to a note left behind at the scene, each of the lights is individually controllable and can create many different colors using their RGB LEDs. If you would like to join in the holiday fun, then you might consider giving it a try.

Here’s a photo of the staircase with a copy of the note.
