SAIC San Antonio Reunion, Alumni Companies
8 Comments Published by Dr. Beyster June 4th, 2013 in SAIC Alumni. This past week I received an entertaining series of photographs taken at the 1st Annual Memorial Day Massacre Reunion in San Antonio. According to Bruce McKinney, former Deputy Division Manager at SAIC’s San Antonio office, the event marks the day in May 2012 when the San Antonio division was dissolved.
While some of the members of the division stayed on with the company, others went their separate ways. I would like to thank Bruce for inviting me to attend.
Although I was unable to do so, as you will see in the photos below, Bruce made sure that I was there in spirit. I send my best wishes to all who attended, including former Division Manager JJ Romano, former Chief Scientist DJ Bauch, former Global Harvest AVP Ken Champlin, and many others.

We are working to update our list of SAIC alumni companies, especially those founded by SAIC alumni over the past 10 years. If you know of any of these companies, please post your response on my blog. Thank you.

Dr. Beyster,
Many thanks for the leadership and we were sorry that you could not make it. Your vision was what made SAIC great and gave the ability for people like JJ Romano to build a great division that I really enjoyed being part of it. One of the best part is making life long friends while doing some very important work for our customers.
I wanted to thank Bruce McKinney for putting it all together and inviting you to our little get together.
John
Thanks so much for virtually joining us and posting on your blog Dr. Beyster! A good time was had by all and we toasted many comrades from back in the not-too-distant-day, including you and Peter Economy. We’re an incestuous little community here in San Antonio with many of our customers having been SAICers before taking government jobs. Our successes were often facilitated by those customers knowing the value of choosing SAIC due to ingrained ethics, capabilities, employee-owned culture, and knowing we felt their mission was our mission. Perhaps you can join us for the second annual reunion–beer is still on me! All the best ex-boss!
Hi Dr. Beyster,
I just recently posted about my new company, but now I see that you are attempting to update your list of alumni companies so I thought I’d pass some on to you.
First, I left SAIC to start Mission Driven Research in November 2012. (www.missiondrivenresearch.com).
Two others that I can think of that started in recent years are Green Mountain Research (http://greenmtninc.com/) and People-Tec (http://www.people-tec.com/about-us/the-principals).
If I think of others, I will pass them on.
Thanks,
Chris G.
Chris: Thank you for the additional SAIC alumni companies. We will update our list. — Bob
Bruce: Thank you again for inviting me to your party. I enjoyed your photographs. Please let me know when you plan your next reunion. — Bob
John: Thanks for your note and for your kind words. I don’t travel outside of San Diego very often. I usually make a trip to the University of Michigan in the fall for the homecoming game, and I hope to get to Washington DC for some events related to the Network Solutions book. — Bob

Hope you are well. As you amend the roster of SAIC Alumni Companies I hope you will add my enterprise, Readiness Resource Group Incorporated (RRG) which was founded in 2007. We are proudly supporting then national preparedness, critical infrastructure protection and enterprise resilience missions across the government. We have professional and technical staff in 30 States and are closing on our 50th contract since we began operations. Of course, in the true SAIC spirit we are on the edge of technology integration, ranging from superconducting maglev energy storage to unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) technical assistance programs. As we cross so many critical milestones I often find myself saying “What would Dr. B do?”. Thanks for the inspiration so many years ago.
Respectfully,
Bob Coullahan

Bob: Thank you for the message. Congratulations on your business — we will add it to our list of SAIC alumni companies. It sounds like you have built a successful company and have already accomplished much. I hope that you are continuing our tradition of employee ownership. — Bob
