I would like to take some time to thank everyone for wishing me a happy 90th birthday. To be honest, I never expected to make it this far, but I am very glad I did.

We had a very enjoyable party at the Beach & Tennis Club this past Saturday, and I was surrounded by friends and family, including a number of SAIC employees, present and past. I especially enjoyed watching the videos that you sent for the occasion.

It is my understanding that Robert is still accepting these videos, and you are welcome to continue to submit them for the next week or so to be included in the long version that he is putting together. Click here if you would like to do that.

Thank you again for the best birthday ever. I look forward to many more. I have included a family photo from the party below.

— Bob

Bob, reminders of your birthday reached us a bit late here in Cuenca, but Jolene and I want to congratulate you and extend best wishes to you. I may have already told you about hiking in the Grand Canyon in the ’70′s with several other SAIC-ers and passing a telephone on a pole far down by the river. I hope you will take it as a tribute to your attention and leadership from that day to this that we all guessed the phone might ring with a call from you for us. All best!!!!

Ron: Your story about the Grand Canyon and the lone telephone on a pole made me laugh. Thank you for recounting that story for me, and for the birthday wishes. All best to you and Jolene. — Bob

  7. 7 Francis Martin

    Dear Dr. Beyster,

Happy birthday, sir. My name is Francis Martin. My paternal grandmother was Henrietta Beyster from Detroit and daughter of Johannes Beyster originally of Zevenbergen, the Netherlands.

I am interested in genealogy and have accumulated a number of old family pictures and other information about the Johannes Beyster family both here in the US and in the Netherlands. I do not know if you are related but, if you are, I am happy to share everything I have gathered. Please let me know if you have any interest in this material.

I hope that you will not consider this email too forward and, if our families are not related, please accept my apologies for your time and my best wishes for you and your family,

    Sincerely,

    Francis Martin
