Questions About Algae-Based Biofuels?

I have started work on the final article in my series on “A Long-Term Energy Solution.” I plan to focus this time on algae-based biofuels, a topic in which I am particularly interested. As you know, San Diego is becoming a center for algae biofuel research, and Craig Venter and his organization are involved.

I plan to look at the origins of algae-based biofuels and the current state of the art. I will look into the most promising research avenues, as well as pros and cons for this solution. As some of you have pointed out, this solution has potential costs along with the many benefits.

Please let me know if you have any specific questions you would like me to address. There have been many good posts on this blog from visitors who know a lot about this topic, including some who are currently involved in algae research. I will consider these posts as I work on the article.

The big news last week was Betty’s departure for Texarkana to spend four days with her high school classmates at their 60th reunion. Mary Ann went with her. It was a lonesome experience for me, as Betty and I are not often separated these days.
